※What is KABUKI?
KABUKI is a Japanese traditional theater form recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is a composite art that combines many distinctive characteristics, including its unique acting styles and makeup, as well as spectacular costumes and stage devices.
It has continued to evolve for more than 400 years, during which diverse styles of plays have been created not only to carry on the tradition but also to keep up with the times.

About Ukon Onoe
Although he was born into the family of KIYOMOTO, the traditional KABUKI musical accompaniment, he voluntarily decided to pursue a career as a KABUKI actor. He began training at the age of 3 and made his stage debut at the age of 7. He was named the second-generation Ukon Onoe at the age of 12. At the age of 25, he announced his succession to the name Kiyomoto Eijudayu VII, when he began a dual career in KABUKI acting and KIYOMOTO music in earnest, defying the conventions of the KABUKI world. Excellent at both the delicate portrayal of female characters and powerful performances in male lead roles, he has been leading the way in the world of HANAGATA KABUKI, featuring rising star actors, as a master of dance. He has also made a name for himself in the film and modern drama industries through appearances in many works, including the historical drama series “BROTHERS IN ARMS,” and has swept all the major rookie awards, such as the Japan Academy Film Prize for Newcomer of the Year, the Sugimura Haruko Prize at the Yomiuri Theatre Awards, and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for New Artists. He is a one-of-a-kind performer who is forging a new era while honoring tradition.
